Doctor Sharing Series (in Chinese)

Organized by the Alumni Affairs Office, the Public Affairs Unit

The Alumni Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Unit will host a ‘Doctor Sharing Series’, a series of three health talks, to raise money for the OUHK Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund. It will invite those who donates $300 or more to attend the talks as a token of appreciation.

Causes and Latest Development of Acute and Chronic Coronary Heart Disease

Time:                  21 May 2012 (Mon), 7:00 pm-8:30 pm

Venue:                 Serena Yang Lecture Theatre of Ho Man Tin Campus

Voluntary Guest Speaker:  Dr Duncan Ho Hung Kwong

Dr Ho is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom (Edinburgh) and a fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.

He is a specialist in Cardiology in Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. He is currently a Council Member of the Hong Kong Medical Society and the Co-Chairman of Continuing Medical Education Committee. He was the Chairman of the Hong Kong Public Doctor’s Association.

Dr Ho will explain the causes and the prevention of acute and chronic coronary heart diseases. He will also offer tips on how to take good care of our hearts in order to prevent sudden death.

Away from Colon Cancer

Voluntary Guest Speaker:  Dr Hon Leung Ka lau

Dr Leung is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and a fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Surgery). He holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr Leung was Chairman of the Hong Kong Public Doctor’s Association and Senior Medical Officer of Department of Surgery in Prince of Wales Hospital. He is now a Legislative Council Member (Medical).

As people always confuse colon cancer with hemorrhoids, Dr Leung will explain the difference between the two at the talk. He will also talk about the causes and the treatment of liver diseases and gallstones.

 

How to Handle Addictive Behavior

Time:                  7 June 2012 (Thur), 7:00 pm-8:30 pm

Venue:                 Serena Yang Lecture Theatre of Ho Man Tin Campus

Voluntary Guest Speaker:  Dr Dominic Lee Tak Shing

Dr Lee holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Previously a Professor at CUHK and Lecturer in Social Medicine at Harvard University, Dr Lee is currently in private practice as a specialist in psychiatry.

Dr Lee will talk about the causes of different kinds of addictive behaviors such as addition to video game, internet surfing, tobacco and alcohol, and  shopaholics, anorexia and bulimia. He will also explain how the genetic and environmental factors correlate with these behavious, and will elaborate on the preventive measures.

Method of Donation:  Please return the completed donation form with a crossed cheque in favour of’ The Open University of Hong Kong’ to the Alumni Affairs Office, the Public Affairs Unit, the Open University of Hong Kong, 30 Good Shepherd Street, Homantin, Kowloon. Donations can also be made by credit card. All donations will go to the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund to provide assistance to outstanding or financially needy students. The Fund will be matched 100% by the Mr. Vincent Woo Matching Donation Fund.
